Application Desk
A personal job tracker that brings application history, employer replies, and the next step into one local workspace.
Keep the application record useful
Application Desk runs on its owner’s Mac. It holds saved opportunities, application materials, and a history of receipts and outcomes. Its mail feature checks connected accounts for relevant application messages and keeps selected evidence beside the matching opportunity.
The app has one private owner and no public sign-up. These information pages provide an overview of its mail feature and data practices.
Read relevant mail, then review the match
Gmail
The owner signs in with Google and grants the Gmail read-only permission. The mail service uses that permission to read message information for application tracking.
Yahoo Mail
The owner connects with a Yahoo app password. Application Desk uses a read-only IMAP client. Yahoo’s app password can permit broader account access, so read-only behavior is enforced by the app’s client.
Clear, authenticated matches can add sourced outcomes automatically. Uncertain matches and updates requiring a decision enter a review queue. Classification can be wrong; the owner can inspect the message evidence, choose a different application, ignore a message, or undo an applied update.
A local record under the owner’s control
- Initial scan
- Recent mail from the previous 90 days, processed in batches.
- Ongoing checks
- Routine checks approximately every 90 seconds while the background service runs and the Mac is awake and online.
- Storage
- Account credentials in macOS Keychain; selected relevant message text, metadata, and application evidence in a local SQLite database.
- Mail behavior
- The mail service reads messages. It has no SMTP sending function and does not write changes to the mailbox.
The installed background service can continue checking with the browser tab closed. Checking pauses when the Mac sleeps or loses connectivity and resumes when the service can reach the provider.
